"THE LATE PRIVATE LANCE GREEN.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Green, of Neville-road, Henley Park, have been advised that their son, Private Lance Green, was killed in action in France on August 4. He was the fifth son, and was 23 years of age. He was educated at St. John the Baptist School, Thebarton. Later he entered the Railway Department. He served in the locomotive branch at Mile-End for four years, and was transferred to the Petersburg branch, where he gained his fireman's certificate in January last. Private Green was well liked and esteemed by all who knew him. He was of a quiet and genial disposition. As a member, he interested himself in the work of the Australian Natives' Association." - from the Adelaide Advertiser 25 Sep 1916 (nla.gov.au)
