"Pte. James Roach, of the 43rd Battalion, has been awarded tHe Military Medal. He is the son of Mrs. T. N. Roach, of Moonta, and prior to enlisting was a member of the Wallaroo Mines pay office staff. He is well known and popular at Moonta and Wallaroo mines. His two brothers, Ptes. "Signaller JAMES BARKLA ROACH, third son of Mrs. T. N. Roach, of Moonta, has been awarded tha Military Medal for conspicuous Bravery whilst carrying dispatches under heavy shellfire. He was decorated by General Birdwood.
