Advice has been received by the Defence department of the death of C. V. Jaehne, 10th Batallion Reinforcements, who died at sea of pneumonia on  January 14. Nearest of kin is given as Mr. William C. Jaehne, of Rainbow, Victoria.
Genuine regret was expressed in Rainbow on Sunday when it was reported that Mr. C. V. Jaehne, son of Mr. W. C. Jaehne, who was a member of the second Expeditionary Force had died, from pneumonia, whilst on the voyage to the theatre of war. Deceased, who was in his 22nd year, was, prior to  leaving for Minlaton, South Australia, about 9 months ago, employed in Strauss' and also Cust's store. He volunteered for service in the sister State,  and having been accepted, embarked with the second Expeditionary Force. Deceased, who was a native of Pimpinio, spent the greater part of his life at  Dimboola, where he made a wide circle of friends, who will be deeply grieved to learn of his untimely end. The sympathy of their many friends will be  extended to the deceased's relatives in this district.
