Rev. Father W. P. Cashman.
A little while since the Rev. Father W. P.Cashman, who had been curate at St. Mary's Church, Ipswich, Q., for some years, was promoted to the charge of the parish of Charleville. Owing to the shortness of his notice of transfer, there was not sufficient time for the Ipswich parishioners to assemble and express their feelings towards him before his departure. Immediately after he left that city a meeting was hold, and a committee appointed, with the result that Father Cashman was recently presented with an address and a purse of sovereigns containing £113. The parishioners were desirous of meeting him at Ipswich in order to personally express their feelings towards him; but owing to the great distance from Ipswich of his now sphere of labour, and tho groat loss of time,,- which would have been involved, he was unable to undertake the journey, and the presentation was forwarded him. The address was signed on behalf of the parishioners, by Messrs. J. F.Grilmorc, J. J. Egan, and M. P. Ponder (the chairman, treasurer and secretary, respectively, of the committee).

The Very Rev. Dean William Patrick Cashman, P.P., St. Mary's, South Brisbane, died this month in the Mater Misrecordiae Private Hospital after a brief illness. A native of County Waterford, Ireland, the late Dean Cashman was educated at Mt. Melleray Seminary and All Hallows' College, Dublin, being ordained in 1899. After visiting Vienna, Fr. Cashman came to Australia, and was appointed to Toowoomba, afterwards to Ipswich and Charleville, from which parish he was absent during the two years of his A.I.F. chaplaincy. After a period in Toowoomba, Dean Cashman was transferred, 12 years ago, to St. Mary's, South Brisbane, where a large congregation attended the Solemn Requiem Mass for the repose of his soul. The Archbishop of Brisbane, Most Rev. James Duhig, D.D. presided, and paid eloquent tribute to the priestly character of the late pastor.
