Carl Heinrich Fiegert was born in 1890 Rhine Villa, near Angaston, South Australia. He spent his early years in this small, rural town and attended Rhine Villa Public School. After schooling, he became a Farrier, role that later aligned with his wartime service in support of the Australian Light Horse. His religious affiliation was with the Church of England.
On 29 October 1912, at the age of 22, Carl married Stella Evelyn Carter in Port Adelaide, South Australia
Carl enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on 14 December 1914. He left Adelaide aboard HMAT Africa (A19) on 26 May 1915, assigned as a Driver in the 4th Light Horse Brigade Train. Carl served on the Western Front in France.
After the war, Carl returned to South Australia 21st April 1918 and was discharged from the AIF 23rd August 1918. He resumed life with his wife Mabel and had 3 children, two daughters Joan Marie and Glena Lillian and one son Lionel Charles. The family lived at Port Adelaide.
After Carl Heinrich Fiegert passed away on 2 December 1957 at Springbank, South Australia. Carl was buried in Pasadena, South Australia
