Place of Birth: Monifieth

Monifieth is a town and former police burgh in the council area of Angus, Scotland. It is situated on the north bank of the Firth of Tay on the east coast. Sergeant Edward Watson - Service Number: 1590, of the 18th Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F. who fell at Gallipoli also hailed from Monifieth.

He was 28 and the son of  Robert Webster, 8 David St, Broughty Ferry, Forfarshire, Scotland.

He is remembered on the Freemasons Roll of Honour-Lodge Broughty Castle no. 486.
He was initiated on the 25th August 1910 and is described in the petition book as a Bleacher, residing at 8 David Street, Broughty Ferry. He emigrated to Australia prior to the Great War.

Date of enlistment: 04.11.1915

Place of enlistment: Blackboy Hill WA.

Dundee paid a high price for her war efforts. By the armistice, over 4,000 men and several women had made the ultimate sacrifice. Their names are recorded in the city’s Roll of Honour.
