Son of John Vaubel and Annie Vaubel of James Street, Teneriffe, QLD formely of Emmaville, NSW.

Brother of Arthur James Vaubel who returned to Austalia on 6 July 1919 having served with the 25th Battalion and Frederick Gladstone Vaubel who was killed in actin on 15 October 1917 while serving with the 15th Battalion. Frederick was buried in the Divisional Collecting Post Cemetery Extension, Plot II, Row H, Grave 18 

Commenced return to Australia on 13 July 1919 aboard HT Persic disembarking on 2 September 1919
