James DOOLEY 5912 (aka John William Simpson) originally enlisted in the AIF on 17 July 1915. He deserted from Ballarat Training Camp on 31 October 1915, and was officially listed as a deserter on 23 November 1915.
He re-enlisted in the AIF on 12 May 1916 under the assumed name of John William SIMPSON and was killed in action during the 6th Brigade's successful attack on Ville sur Ancre on 19 May 1918.
