Son of Charles Hamilton MACKNIGHT and Everina Isabella MACKNIGHT nee HEATLEY
Dr. Charles Crawfurd MacKnight, who practised in Warrnambool for many years, died in Melbourne yesterday, little more than a weekk before his 92nd birthday.
Dr. MacKnight, who was born on his father's property, Dunmore, near Macarthur, in the Western District, was educated at Melbourne Grammar School. He gained his medical degree in Edinburgh, and returned to practise in Warrnambool. He joined the Army Medical Corps at the outbreak of the 1914-18 war and served in Gallipoli. He remained on the Army Medical Board until 1920, when he had risen to lieutenant-colonel. He then resumed his practice in Warrnambool, where he remained until he retired in Melbourne in 1945.
Dr. MacKnight was unmarried.
His funeral will leave the Herbert King Memorial Chapel, Lennox Street, Richmond, at 10am tomorrow for the Spring Vale Cemetery.

MacKnight's second name is in fact spelt Crawfurd not Crawford. The use of Crawford is an ongoing curruption through out his service record and other documents. On page 53 of his service record in his 'Application for a Commission' which has been completed by MacKnight himself and clearly details his second name as 'Crawfurd'. His younger brother Dr William Crawfurd MacKnight (1865-1945) also has the same second name. The name is drawn from their paternal grandmother's family - Courtesy of Michael Silver
