For exemplary conduct and devotion to duty in the field from May 1915 to present date. The manner in which this N.C.O. has acted on more than one occasion, when cool and courageous action was called for, has been an inspiring example to those under him. On the 30.8.18 when detached in charge of wagons with the 5th Brigade Headquarters, a bomb fell killing a driver of the Train and 7 horses. He at once took charge of matters until the arrival of an Officer, and displayed great capability in dealing with the position. He has done most excellent work in his Company, and is of exemplary character.
