Alexander Arthur Lee Young, the son of William Lee Young and Charlotte Penny. William Lee Young immigrated fron china in the 1850's and Charlotte Penny was born in Brighton Victoria both her parents had immigrated from England.
Alexander was born 4th June 1891 in the mining Township of Dry Creek Victoria via Boonie Doon the youngest of 7 children. He enlisted 15th December 1916 at the age of 24.
After Gallipoli and the battles on the western front there was no illusions left as to the bloody nature of the fighting and high casulties . Men like Alexander displayed great courage and patriotism to enlist for service full well knowing what they where in for, truely "fair Dinkum"
Alexander Authur Lee Young 21st btn ,was killed in action 23rd september 1917 at the age of 25 in the 3rd battle of Ypres and lies buried in an un-marked grave on the battlefield.
Alexander is my Great Grand Uncle and he is remembered as family and for his sacrifice, courage and patriotism , lest we forget.
