Biography

Son of William Charles BENNETT and Catherine nee FRASER

Roy Lindsay Bennett was born in Prospect, Adelaide, South Australia. Before enlistment, Roy was an electrician. His home was in Torrensville, South Australia, where he lived with his family. His next of kin on his enlistment papers shows his mother, Mrs. C. Bennett, of Danby Street, Torrensville. Roy was brought up in the Presbyterian faith.

On 13 July 1915, a then 21-year-old Roy enlisted in the AIF. He was listed in as Private.

He was allotted to the 16th Battalion-9th Reinforcement. His unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board the HMAT A15 Star of England on 21st September 1915. He served in the Middle East and Western Front

On 25th January 1919 Roy returned to Australia. He was discharged 6th May 1919.

Roy Lindsay Bennett died on 15 February 1964 in Daw Park, South Australia.
