Edward was the son of William Aspland & Rosina Amelia Deans. The Deans were a pioneer family in the district and as a child Edward attended Humpybong State School at Margate. He enlisted in September 1915. After his return in 1919 he lived in Nambour and married Violet Buchback in 1925.
