Awarded a Military Medal for actions on the 3rd of October 1918. Citation Reads
" During the attack on the BEAUREVOIR line, North of ST. QUENTIN, on morning of
3rd October, 1918, this stretcher bearer showed remarkable courage whilst collecting and carrying the wounded. Throughout the day he worked incessantly under intense machine gun fire and shelling, until finally exhausted, his untiring efforts being responsible for the saving of several lives. Throughout the operation he showed absolute disregard for his own safety ".
