War Service/Promotions: Taken on Strength from Reinforcements 5 February 1916. Proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force, 18 March 1916, Alexandria, Egypt. Disembarked Marseilles, France, 25 March 1916. Wounded in action, France, 30 July 1916. Rejoined 19th Battalion from hospital 5 August 1916, Rouen, France. Over the next 4 months he was admitted to hospital on many occasions, with boils and bronchitis. On 4 January 1917 he marched in to Etaples, France. On 27 January 1917 he rejoined his battalion in France. Hospitalised on 2 February 1917 with scabies, discharged to duty 24 February 1917.
Place of Wounding: 30 July 1916, France.
Fate: Killed in action, 28 February 1917. He is commorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
