Boirn at Bower (Scottish Gaelic: Bàgair) a village and civil parish in Highland, Scotland It is 10 miles from Thurso and around 11 miles from Wick.

Killed between the dates 20 August 1916 and 23 August 1916-aged 23.

His parents are shown as John Ross and Christine Stanger Ross [John may have been Charles' step-father] of Isauld Farm, Reay and of 14 Manson Lane, Thurso, Caithness, Scotland.

He is honoured on the Reay War Memorial and on the Bower War Memorial.
