Marital status was given as widower
Son of Frederick M. Philip and Elizabeth Philip of 61 Gower Street, Kensington, Victoria. Brother of Harold Philip who was killed in action on 3 May 1917 while serving with the 23rd Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonnneux Memorial
