Biography

"Mrs. Leane, of Wyalong-street, Burwood, has been officially informed that her husband, Lieut.-Colonel Edwin Thomas Leane, has been mentioned in despatches by General Sir Douglas Haig for "distinguished and gallant service and devotion to duty." She has also been advised that her son, Captain A. E. Leane, who was reported wounded and missing on April 11, was mentioned by the late Major-Goneral Holmes for "his gallant conduct and good leading on April 11." - from the Sydney Morning Herald 19 Jul 1917 (nla.gov.au)
