Next of kin given as his brother T. Unsworth of Edge Lane, Liverpool, NSW. On  5 June 1917 next of kin was changed to his fiancee Marion McCaw of Cowles Road, Mossman, NSW.

8 June 1915 - enlisted at Liverpool, NSW with the 4th Battalion with the rank of Private.

29 Janaury 1916 - transferred to the Imperial Camel Corps

24 February 1916 - promoted to Lance Corporal

5 November 1916 - transferred to the 1st ANZAC Battalion Imperial Camel Brigade

24 November 1916 - promoted to Sergeant

19 April 1917 - wounded. Foot

Commenced return to Australia on 15 January 1919 aboard HT Karmala disewmbarking on 15 February 1919

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

16 April 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit
