Son of Archibald William Vernede of Devocolam Range, Travancok, South India
Prior to arriving in Australia Charles served with the Gloucestershire Regiment for five years. Brother of James Neville Ewart Vernede who returned to Australia on 13 September 1917 having served with the 11th Battalion.
Husband of Lily Maria Vernede later known a Lily Jacks of 'Mona Cottage', Egina Street, Mt. Hawthorn, WA formerly of Newcastle Street Leederville, WA. Lily died in 1923c. Father of Charles William Luenal.
