John Alexander James STENHOUSE was born in 1892 in Footscray in Victoria
His parents were John STENHOUSE and Cecilia Lucy PEARL
S/N 2002 he joined the 21st Battalion, 3rd Reinforcements
Unit embarked 26th August 1915 on HMAT Anchises
John was killed in action on 20th March, 1917
No known grave but he is commemorated in the Australian National Memorial, Villers Bretonneux, France
OBITUARY - The Age - Melbourne April, 1917
Mr. J. STENHOUSE of 32 Eleanor St, West Footscray has been informed by the Defence Department that his son Private J.A. STENHOUSE was killed in action in France on 20th March, 1917
He was through Gallipoli till the evacuation, wounded in France and returned to the trenches in December.
