Reading through Alfred Edward Clarke's military file, he had a wife Sarah in Australia when he enlisted in 1915. On 22 Feb 1918 he made a will leaving all to Sarah.
In July 1917, he had made a will leaving everything to Miss Edie Annie Bettis of Southend on Sea, England - his "intended wife". Sadly Edie Bettis had died by 9th Jan 1919.
Sarah remaried, and became Sarah Ruckland.
