Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Edwin and Mary PLUNKETT
Of New Norfolk, Tas.

Mr. Edwin Plunkett, of Glen Fern, has received news that his only son, Edwin William Duncan Plunkett, has been killed somewhere in France. The deceased, who enlisted in October, 1916, had been married a week only when he went into camp. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. E. Plunkett. A cousin, Frederick Plunkett, was killed in France on the 28th July, 1916, and two other cousins, Rory Plunkett and Alan Plunkett, sons of Mr. C. J. Plunkett, Tyndwal, New Norfolk, have been wounded. Rory Plunkett had his equipment shot off his    back, and his gas helmet riddled with bullets. His brother, Alan Plunkett, had his coat perforated with bullets, but from advices received both are progressing favourably, and hope  soon to be in the firing line again.
