Geoffrey Charles Stansfield was one of five sons of James Thomas and Marion Stansfield, of Franklin, Tasmania, who served Australia during WW1. His younger brother, 2950 Pte. Stanley Robert Stansfield 52nd Battalion AIF was killed in action at Mouquet Farm in 1916.
Geoffrey returned to Australia with chronic rheumatism during 1917.
