Son of William Oakford and Margaret Mary Oakford nee Darcy of Franklin, Tasmania. William died when their children were very young and Margaret struggled to raise her three children due to serious health issues.
Next of kin was given as his brother Michael A.L. Oakford of Franklyn, Huon, Tasmania.
Commenced return to Australia on 31 May 1919 aboard HT Aenaes disembarking on 12 July 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart
