The youngest brother in the Jarvis family, 4524 Alfred Edward Jarvis also enlisted in the 12th battalion during June 1915, at only 18 years of age, and he reached Egypt in time to transfer to the 52nd Battalion the same day as his Gallipoli veteran brother, Henry Jarvis. He was with the 52nd Battalion at Mouquet Farm when his brother was killed and he fought continuously on the Western Front for another 9 months until he was shot through the left knee at Messines on the 9 June 1917. The wound was serious and he was evacuated to England and the returned to Australia on the 27 August 1917.
