Nicholas's parents were James Thomas Homewood and Sarah Maria Sharp. He was living at Terrors Creek when he enlisted on 30 August 1916 Brisbane. In 1913 and 1922 Nicholas is on the electoral roll as living at the Crown Hotel, Terrors Creek. In 1934 Nicholas is on the electoral roll as living at Laceys Creek.
