Gilbert “Gib” WARD
The Grandson of pioneers, Gib was born on the New Zealand Goldfields. The Family returned to South Australia, and took up land in the Franklin Harbour District between Carpa and Elbow Hill.
Gib worked as a teamster, stockman and prospector in the Kimberley’s and the Northern Territory before the War.
After the War, he returned to Franklin Harbour, becoming well known as a stockman and drover.
He was a friend of my Grandfather, Dick Pike, and my Father, Lin Pike worked for him as a stockman in the 1920s.
Gib was a good athlete, cricketer and footballer.
