14 Oct 1918: | Honoured Distinguished Conduct Medal, Citation reads: He was No. 1 of a Lewis gun in the attack on 3 October 1918, near Estrees, north of St. Quentin. The left flank of his battalion was held up by machine gun fire and could not pass the wire. He worked forward through the wire, and pushed his Lewis gun forward, and then opened fire and, although an enemy machine gun engaged him at close range, continued to fire and cover the approach of a party of our men. He was wounded by machine gun fire, but carried on, so enabling this party to reach a strong post of the enemy. He showed great gallantry.
