Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of signal sections and assaulting companies. He was twice wounded laying out a telephone line, but got into communication with battalion headquarters just 25 minutes after the assaulting waves had left our line. At one time a part of the attack being held up, he dashed in with his bayonet, regardless of his wounds, and captured two prisoners.'
