Alfred Ernest John Duncan was born in Angaston, South Australia on the 15 April 1907. He lived with his mother and father Mr. John Grey Duncan and Mrs. Emily Duncan at 147 Gilles Street, Adelaide, South Australia. Alfred and his parents were Presbyterian.
Before joining the army, Alfred was a laborer. He joined the Australian Infantry, A.I.F, and his service number was 2602. Alfred enlisted on the 4th of January 1916 and on the 25 of March 1916 Alfred embarked with the 32nd Infantry Battalion. Alfred was also involved in the 47th Infantry Battalion. Alfred was a private in the regiment.
Alfred Ernest John Duncan, unfortunately, didn’t make it home from World War 1. Duncan was killed in action in France, 5 April 1918, he was 32 when he passed. He is now honoured at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
