He was 29 and the son of John and Margaret Townson; husband of Isabella Dadley (formerly Townson), of Spearwood, Western Australia. He is one of seven Australian soldier casualties of the Great War honoured on the Southport War Memorial but 3 of these cannot be verified; they are:
