20 Nov 1917: | Honoured Military Medal, Citation reads: Near Molenaarelsthoek on 11 October 1917, the 8th Australian Machine Gun Company asked for a stretcher party to bring in a wounded man of the 10th Battalion who had been lying on the battlefield for 2 days. Private Fox and his partner at once set out and, in spite of heavy enemy artillery and machine gun fire, searched for this man. Failing in their efforts they returned to Battalion Headquartere night of the raid he assisted in laying out the tapes and assembling the party into No Mans Land, 70 yards from the enemy trench and his work generally had much to do with the success of the raid. After the raiders had returned he went out with parties under heavy shell and machine gun fire and brought in two wounded men. This conduct was of the highest order and worthy of special recognition. This N.C.O. has an excellent record in the Battalion having on more than one occasion distinguished himself on patrol work and obtained much valuable information.
