S Paton – Moore WW1 Honour Board

Another interesting journey of research for a person the Moore WW1 Honour Board. I am sure it is Simon Carruthers Paton the only S Paton to enlist in Queensland even though I cannot find any record of him living at or near Moore.
Simon C Moore arrived in Brisbane in 1914 on the Orsova with his step-sister Marion. The 1915 electoral roll shows him as Simon Paton, miner, care of H. Larsen, Rosalie, Brisbane, also 1917 and 1921 even though he was no longer in Qld. At the recruiting depot at Enoggera, Brisbane on 29 November, 1915 Simon Paton enlisted in the AIF. He served with the Miners’ Corps until Aug 1919 when he was discharged in UK where he remained for the rest of his life.
See the story from the Tunnellers.net for more details about him.
