Let us remember a Fallen soldier of The Great War memorialised at Sandgate Cemetery.
On the 22nd July 1918, Private Thomas Myatt Brough, 20th Battalion (Reg No- 4558A), miner from 52 Lambton Road, New Lambton, New South Wales, was Killed in Action at Villers-Bretonneux, age 22. Cause of death unknown.
Born at Catherine Hill Bay, New South Wales on the 10th January 1896 to Thomas (born 21.11.1867, Sydney, N.S.W., died 30.3.1941, Wallsend, N.S.W., age 74), from 65 Lambton Road, New Lambton, New South Wales, and Ellen Brough nee Palmer (born ? ? 1870, Raymond Terrace, N.S.W., died 20.5.1959, East Maitland, N.S.W., age 90), Tom enlisted on the 26th October 1915 at Holsworthy, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A71 Nestor on the 9th April 1916.
Admitted to hospital 11.12.1916 (bronchitis).
Mr. Brough is resting at Longueau British Cemetery, France. Plot II Row B Grave 5.
Place of Association - Adamstown, New South Wales, Australia.
Attended Adamstown Public School.
Tom’s name has been inscribed on the Adamstown Independent Order of Rechabites, Hope of Adamstown Tent No. 76 Honour Roll and the Toronto Public School Roll of Honour. Name not inscribed on the Adamstown Citizens' Memorial or the Lambton/New Lambton Municipal District Roll of Honor or the New Lambton War Memorial Gates. Name should have been inscribed on The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.

Younger brother Roy Victor M Brough (born 6.2.1899, Catherine Hill Bay, New South Wales, fitter from 52 Lambton Road, New Lambton, New South Wales, enlisted-20.9.1917, 18th Battalion, Reg No-7030, wounded in action - 9.8.1918 (GSW left arm, head & back, fractured humerus, severe), RTA 31.1.1919, invalided, died 13.8.1966, Parramatta, N.S.W., age 67, not officially commemorated).
