Tom was the son of Alexander and Annie Conroy and the brother of William, Frances, Elizabeth and Mary Anne Conroy. In 1901 the family lived at 8 St Stephen's Gardens, Burgass Road, Thorneywood, Nottingham. In 1911 they lived at 2 Burgass Road but Thomas was not listed. presumably he had by then emigrated to Australia.
Private Conroy, served with the 55th Battalion Australian Imperial Force.
Nottingham Evening Post In Memoriam (abridged) 9/5/1918: 'Conroy. In loving memory of Pte. Tom Conroy Australian Forces, killed in action May 9th 1917. - From loving father, mother, brothers and sisters.'
In memoriam published 9th May 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“CONROY. – In loving memory of Tom Conroy, Australian Forces, killed in action May 9th, 1917. To-day recalls sad memories. – From his loving mother, father, sisters, and brothers.”
