Born in Canterbury hospital, Canterbury NSW on the 27th of February 1899 to father Thomas Alfred and mother Ethel May, Willmont was the eldest son within the family, followed by his siblings Norman Chapman (2) Willmott (1903), Raymond Maurice Frank (1905)(3), Eric Clive Willmott(1910)(5) and sister Una Madeline Willmott(1907)(4). Their family prioritised religion, as they worshipped the Church of England.
Frank embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board the HMAT A71 Nestor on the 21st of November 1917, as rank Sapper on the Nominal roll, service/army number 20039. He was admitted to hospital with influenza in July 1918 and after recovering at base depot proceeded to France 13 August 1918. He became ill with enteritis in December 1918 and was sent back to England to recover.
Willmott, Leslie Frank survived the war, returning back to Australia on 15th March 1919 and proceeded with sales engineering with no mention of marriage or starting a family. Records(11) show that in 1935 he lived 65 Roseville Avenue, Ashbury. He died 3rd December 1987, aged 88.
