At the time of enlistment he was residing at Ovens Vale, Victoria

Son of James Thomas Sammons and Mary Emma Sammons of Hurley Street, Cootamundra, NSW later of 'La Meuse', Lilli Pill, NSW . Brother of Thomas Sammons, Edward Alexander Sammons who returned to Australia on 12 February 1918 as wounded having served with the 55th Battalion, John Alan Sammons  and Mary Ethel Sammons.

Served his bakery apprenticeship with a Mr Bates of Cowra, NSW
