Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
William McManus enlisted in January 1916, age 18, with his slightly older brother Michael. He was probably present or nearby when Michael died of cerebro-spinal meningitis in Egypt on the 10 May 1916, not long after they had arrived from Australia.
William Richard McManus lost his life a few months later at Pozieres, in unknown circumstances, still only 18 years of age. Their parents were the Irish born James Patrick and Annie McManus, of Northam, Western Australia.
