Back to Bearii “ 1993.
“ The teacher at that time was Mr Cliff Anderson. On 1st December 1915 he enlisted, and on 8th February, 1916 embarked with the 9th reinforcements to the 24th Battalion.
He was wounded three times in the next three years, the first time only two days after joining his unit.”
He was invalided in June 1918 and discharged medically unfit in August of the same year- he returned to Bearii minus one leg.
