Son of William LYON
Of Longford, Tas.
As a result of injuries he received in a collision between a motorcar and a motorcycle on July 20, Tasman John Lyon, an emplovee of the Cresco fertiliser works, died in Geelong Hospital. At the time Lyon was riding pillion on a motorcycle being ridden by Herbert Michael Kinnane, hairdresser, Fyans st, Chilwell. In the Supreme Court yesterday the widow, Gladys Lillian Lyon, High st, Geelong West, sued Kinnane and Francis James Doyle, slaughterman, Church st, Geelong West, for £3,000, and alleged that the collision was due to the negligence of both Kinnane and Doyle.
Mr A. Adams appeared for plaintiff. Mr C. Stafford for Doyle, and Mr A. L. Read for Kinnane. Judgment was reserved.
GEELONG NEWS
In the Supreme Court, Melbourne, Mr Justice Martin gave reserved judgment in the action Gladys Lillian Lyon, High st, Geelong West, versus Francis James Doyle, slaughterman, Church st, Geelong West, and Herbert Michael Kinnane, hairdresser, Fyans st, Chilwell. The action was heard in Geelong, and Mrs Lyon claimed from the defendants £3,000 damages for the negligent driving of a motorcar and motorcycle which resulted in a collision and the death of her husband, Tasman John Lyon. Lyon was a pillion rider on Kinnane's motorcycle at the time the cycle came into collision with the car driven by Doyle Mrs Lyon alleged that the accident was due to the negligence of one or both defendants. Judgment was given in favour of Mrs Lyon for £1,400 damages and costs against both defendants. Messrs Crawcour and Hollykoke, Geelong (instructed by Mr A. Adams) appeared for Mrs Lyon.
