Edward Patrick Minorgan ( known as Patrick) was the youngest son of Irishman Colour Sergeant Thomas Minorgan, a Crimea war veteran, who came out to Western Australia in 1874 and served in the colony as a Enrolled Pensioner Guard. Edward was born in Perth while his family were resident in the Perth Barracks and was raised in Perth and Fremantle where his father was stationed. Edward's father was granted land in John Street, West Perth which was where the Minorgan Family finally settled.
The 1916 Electoral Roll has Edward enrolled for the subdivision of Toodyay and residing at Waddouring in the Mt Marshall shire in Western Australian's eastern wheatbelt north of the town of Trayning. Edward's occupation is listed as a contractor.
Edward Patrick Minorgan served in WW1 under the name of Patrick Minorgan enlisting on 13 September 1916 with the 51st Australian Infantry Battalion as a private. At discharge Edward was awarded the following medals, 1914/15 Star, The British Service Medal and the Victory Medal. Edward's service records reveals that he had a checkered time in the AIF.
Minorgan also went by the name of Patrick Edward Minorgan and some records have his spouse as Margaret Kathleen Curtis.
After the war Edward returned to his occupation as a contractor/miner working in the north easter wheatbelt area.
Edward had a checkered career running foul of the law on a few occasions.
