Served during The Great War, resting at Sandgate Cemetery.
48 years ago today, on the 12th February 1975, Private Elliot Scott Davidson, 4th Battalion (Reg No-6979), loom fitter from 37 Donald Street, Hamilton, New South Wales and 8 Thomas Street, Hamilton South, N.S.W., father of two, 40 years a widower, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 89. PRESBYTERIAN-22NW. 78.
Born at Galashiels, Scotland, United Kingdom about 1886 to William and Annie Davidson of 15 Livingstone Place, Galashiels, Scotland, United Kingdom; husband of Clara May Davidson nee Graham (married 1919, Newcastle, N.S.W., died 4.8.1935, age 41, sleeping here.
Wounded in action - 4.10.1917 (GSW left buttock, left leg and shoulder).
Invalided to England 17.10.1917.
Nothing located on Trove regarding enlistment, wounding, returning home, etc.
Elliot returned home on the 13th February 1918, being discharged medically unfit on the 24th July 1918.
Mr. Davidson’s name has been inscribed on the Hamilton (Gregson Park) War Memorial, Hamilton Municipal District Roll of Honor, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (Newcastle) Roll of Honour and the Newcastle Gas & Coke Company Limited Roll of Honor.
I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at the gravesite in remembrance of Elliot’s service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
Service Record states Died after Discharge, 5/2/1936 (incorrect).
