Son of Albert Edward and Louisa Hart Heighway nee Campbell Heighway of Ólderfleet', Collins Street, Melbourne, Victora. Brother of Arthur Campbell Heighway who returned to Australia on 16 May 1919 having served with the 3rd Motor Transport Company

Commenced return to Australia on 5 July 1915 from Suez aboard HS Ballarat disembarking on 6 August 1915

During 1916c Albert married Ida Clarice McKirdy in Victoria
