Son of John Splatt and Alice Catherine Splatt nee Amies of 75 Grant Street, Ballarat, Victoria. Brother of Thomas Splatt who returned to  Australia on 5 April 1919 having served with the 4th Pioneer Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 25 August 1917 aboard HT Benalla disembarking on the 24 October 1917
