His younger brother, 6392 Pte. Henry Hawthorn Rose 11th Company, Australian Machine Gun Corps, was killed in action six months later on 15 April 1918, aged 26.
A third brother, Vernon Herbert Rose 11th Battalion AIF, returned to Australia during April 1919.
