BOXING DAY TRAGEDY.
Keen Committed for Trial.
SYDNEY. January, 11
On Boxing Day, John Daniel Moran, aged 34, a returned soldier, was shot dead in a house in Rozclle. He followed the vocation of a fisherman, and lived with his wife and family at Rozelle, Before he died, Moran declined to give any information either to the police or to his wife as to who fired the shots. The coroner recorded a finding that Edward Keen wilfully murdered Moran, and committed him for trial.

MURDER IN SYDNEY.
A RETURNED SOLDIER THE VICTIM.
Sydney. Dec, 28.
Still another murder was reported to the police on Friday night. This occurrence, unlike those which were announced earlier in the week, is most mysterious, and the refusal of the victim before his death to disclose the name of his assailant has made the work of the police very difficult. It, however, seems to have, been fairly established that John Daniel Moran, a returned soldier, 34 years of age, was shot three times during a quarrel in Red Lion-street, Rozelle. He was found in a semi-conscious  condition, and, although several neighbours heard shots fired, no one seems to have witneesed the occurrence. Moran was removed to the hospital, but he refused resolutely to give any information to the police. His wife visited him in the hospital, but to her also his lips were sealed.  She pleaded with, him to say who shot him, but he forbade her brusquely to continue. Then he added:-"I am sorry, I thought it was the police asking me again. I was playing cards and dominoes at the 'pub." Then, after closing time, we went into a house down the street. We had a few drinks there, and I was just turning round to come home when they got me." The police are now searching for a man whom they suspect.
