5 Oct 1918: Honoured Military Medal, Montbrehain, For courage and determination in the attack on 5th October, 1918 at MONTBREHAIN, North of St Quentin. He attacked and kept under fire singlehanded an enemy machine gun which was holding up the advance of his platoon's left flank. Whilst doing so he was under continuous bursts of machine gun fire which he succeeded at holding in check. Though firing from an exposed position he gallantly stuck to his task which enabled the remainder of the men to advance.
