96 years ago today, on the Monday afternoon of the 30th July 1928, Private Charles Ferguson Colquhoun, 20th Battalion (Reg No- 1086A), wheeler from Back Creek, Minmi, New South Wales and 34 Roslyn Avenue, Maryville, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 39. PRESBYTERIAN-10NW. 5.

Born at Joadja Creek, Mittagong, New South Wales on the 15th July 1889 to George, died 30.2.1923, Newcastle, N.S.W., age 68, buried at PRESBYTERIAN-19SW. 33, from 5 Omara Street, Tighes Hill, N.S.W. and George Street, Mayfield East, N.S.W., and Margaret Drummond Colquhoun, died 5.3.1933, 33 Cameron Street, Hamilton, N.S.W., age 78, mother of 7 (5 sons, 2 daughters), sleeping at PRESBYTERIAN-19SW. 33; husband of Margaret F Colquhoun nee?, married?, died?, Charles enlisted on the 15th January 1916 with the 34th Battalion at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A20 Hororata on the 2nd May 1916.
Admitted to hospital 13.1.1917, 20.1.1917 (not stated).

Granted leave to England from 27.10.1917 to 14.11.1917 and 2.11.1918 to 17.11.1918.

Commenced return to Australia 1.11.1919.

Charles arrived home on the 15th December 1919, being discharged on the 16th December 1919.

Mr. Colquhoun’s name has been inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour, Minmi St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.

I have placed poppies at Charles’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

Younger brother Matthew Miller, born 2.12.1891, West Wallsend, N.S.W. as Mathew, miner from Back Creek Minmi, New South Wales, enlisted 4.12.1914, 13th Battalion, Reg No-1530, RTA invalided 3.2.1919, died 22.10.1943, Prince of Wales Military Hospital, Randwick, N.S.W., age 51, officially commemorated - https://connect.dva.gov.au/.../viewCommemoration.html..., from 51 James Street, Hamilton, N.S.W. (1931) and 76 Bowman Street, Swansea, N.S.W., also served 1st A.I.F.
