Son of Francis Ullyott and Frances Ullyott of Kelmscott, WA formerly of Yorkshire, England. Brother of William Lamplough who returned to Australia on 22 June 1917 having served with the 11th Battalion and was discharged in England. Returned to Australia prior to 1921 when he was residing in Bendering near Corrigan, WA.
John previously served for two years with the East Yorkshire Yeomanry.
Commenced return to Australia on 7 February 1919 aboard HT Lancashire disembarking on 11 March 1919.
